Medical Fitness

At Beacon Health & Fitness, our services are exceptional. With state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, a lap pool, the latest group exercise classes and more, there’s so much to take advantage of. However, it’s the medical fitness difference that makes us most unique … it’s the core of who we are and what we believe in.

Medical Fitness encompassess all of the following:

You Build You

Whether you’re just starting an exercise program or have been working out for years, you are unique. You are you. Rather than giving you some cookie-cutter orientation and assessment, we put you in the driver’s seat. You tell us how we can most help you, and we’ll get started — together — with your You Build You appointment.

Quick Look

Every three months, we like to do a check-in, or “quick look” with you just to see how you’re doing. We’ll do a short assessment that includes height, weight, body fat percentage, body mass index, blood pressure and resting heart rate. This takes just about five minutes and you’ll be on your way.

If you like, for a small fee, we can also check your total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, the ratio between your total cholesterol and HDL and glucose.

This information can be shared with your primary care physician, if you choose, or you can simply take the results home with you that same day.

Medical Oversight

All of our programs and services are approved by our Beacon Medical Advisory Board to ensure that they are both safe and effective. The Medical Advisory Board includes physicians, a physical therapist, a nurse (?), exercise physiologist and others.

Qualified Staff

Our fitness team includes exercise physiologists, fitness specialists with college degrees in exercise science or related fields and personal trainers/group exercise instructors with certifications from renowned organizations like the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA).

In addition, as part of Beacon Health System, our full- and part-time associates qualify for tuition and certification reimbursement opportunities so that they can stay current with the latest education, research and information.

Best Medicine Program

Exercise can be a powerful tool for those facing life-changing conditions. Included in membership with a physician’s referral, participants in the Best Medicine Program have access to a variety of classes specifically designed for those facing cancer, arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, neurological conditions, recovering from a cardiac event (Phase IV) and more.

Wellness SurroundCare Team

Think of this as a team standing beside you with one objective in mind –– to keep you well.

This multidisciplinary team is composed of a sports medicine physician, physical therapist, exercise physiologist, fitness specialist, personal trainer, massage therapist, athletic trainer and sports performance coach. They meet on a regular basis to discuss specific cases and determine the best course of action for that member.
