2019 Trauma Symposium

Our 19th Annual Trauma Symposium continues the tradition of exploring successful and innovative trauma care. Our dynamic speakers will present recommendations for multidisciplinary care within the larger context of the trauma system. The symposium is designed for trauma/general surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, intensivists, nurses, therapists, allied health and EMS personnel involved in providing trauma care.

Event Itinerary:

  • Doors open 6:45 a.m.
  • 7:00-7:45 a.m. REGISTRATION / Continental Breakfast / Exhibits
  • 7:45 a.m. Program begins – Welcome Scott Thomas MD
  • Morning Sessions: Guest speakers / Exhibits
  • Noon – Lunch / Exhibits
  • 12:45 p.m. Afternoon Sessions Include:
  • Interactive Case review
  • Breakout sessions
  • Recovery from Trauma; A Survivor‘s Story
  • 4:15 p.m. Presentations conclude
  • 4:15-4:30 p.m. Evaluation
  • 4:30-5:30 p.m. Reception

Registration / Fees:

EMS: $40
Nurses & Other healthcare personnel: $80
Physicians: $150

Registration will open on February 5th at noon EST. Please register early, as registration is limited. This year, the first 250 registrants will be assigned to the main lecture room. All registrants after 250 will be seated in the simulcast room. In 2018, the 250 threshold was reached at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday February 8th, less than 48 hours after registration opened. Registration will be accepted until capacity is reached or March 1st, whichever occurs first.



The Beacon Health System of South Bend is accredited by the Indiana State Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Beacon Health System designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Beacon Health System is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by Ohio Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. (OBN-001-91)
Criteria for successful completion include attendance at the entire event and submission of a completed evaluation form. 7.0 contact hours will be awarded to nurses.

EMS in-service hours will be granted based on approval of your supervising hospital. EMS Providers who are sponsored by the South Bend Area EMS Committee will be granted 7.0 hours for attendance at the entire course.
Memorial Hospital of South Bend is an approved provider of continuing respiratory education by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Criteria for successful completion include attendance at 100% of the event and submission of a completed evaluation form. 7.0 Respiratory continuing education credits will be awarded.
