Cancer Care Offerings at Memorial
Your physician team of highly skilled cancer and blood disorder specialists will deliver the highest quality of care using leading-edge technology and procedures to diagnose and treat cancer. Memorial’s cancer care services include:
At Beacon’s Gynecologic Oncology practice, patients are family. Compassionate care is the top priority of our provider team.
Memorial provides accurate diagnosis and expert full-service treatment of gynecologic cancers including chemotherapy and surgery. If surgery is required, whenever possible, minimally invasive robotic surgical techniques are utilized.
Adult Hematology & Medical Oncology
We provide individualized care that focuses on our patients throughout the lifespan – not solely the cancer or blood disorder. Our comprehensive team includes hematology and medical oncology physicians, nurse practitioners, genetic counseling, certified oncology nurses, social services staff, nurse navigators, medical assistance coordinators, dietitians, and supportive staff.
We have also partnered with Mayo Clinic to provide access to cutting edge clinical trials to patients in the community. This affiliation with Mayo Clinic gives patients access to some of the same clinical trials offered at Mayo Clinic, MD Anderson, John Hopkins, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and other large academic centers across the country.
As a patient-focused care center, we bring our experts and most services right to your room. Our services include chemotherapy and immunotherapy, radiation therapy, blood product transfusions, nutritional support, pain and symptom management, pre- and post-care for bone marrow transplant patients, physical therapy, psychosocial support, pulmonary treatments, as well as other supportive therapies.
The inpatient oncology unit features 23 private patient rooms and is located on the 10th floor at Memorial Hospital. All inpatient rooms include flat-screen televisions. Our positive pressure rooms protect patients with depressed immune systems.
Medication Assistance Program (MAP)
The Medication Assistance Program (MAP) assists patients and their physicians in applying for financial assistance programs through drug manufacturers and other funding foundations. These companies provide free medication or grants to cover medication costs to uninsured or underinsured patients who meet income guidelines. Beacon Cancer Care has dedicated patient assistance coordinators to help patients navigate this process.
Pediatric Hematology / Medical Oncology
The Pediatric Hematology Oncology Program provides cutting edge diagnostic services and treatment options for children with all types of cancers and hematologic disorders, offering innovative treatment protocols recommended by the Children’s Oncology Group – a National Cancer Institute supported-group devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research. We also collaborate with Riley Children’s hospital and other pediatric centers across the United States.
Our clinic is located within our Beacon Children’s Hospital, giving families the opportunity to receive state-of-the-art care close to home. We also work closely with Ronald McDonald House Charities to provide additional services for our families.
Dr. Joel Post is a surgical orthopedic oncologist, fellowship trained at the Mayo Clinic, who specializes in tumors that are cancerous and non-cancerous, related to bone, soft tissue, and skin in both the pediatric and adult population.
Dr. Post is with his patients from diagnosis and all the way through treatment in collaboration with his physician assistant, Meghan Hart, and other medical and radiation oncologists. He performs in office and surgical biopsies, removes tumors and performs complicated surgeries related to masses.
Outpatient Infusion Center
Our infusion center is managed by a collaborative team of experts including physicians, nurse practitioners, certified oncology nurses, nurse navigators, and supportive staff. We offer a wide variety of outpatient services including chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration, blood product transfusions, medical infusions and therapies.
The infusion center is conveniently located at the Main Entrance with valet and volunteer services available. It has been recently updated with 3 patient bays and 6 private rooms and floor to ceiling windows to provide natural light.
Radiation Oncologists, Dr. David Hornback and Dr. Samuel McGrath, work closely with surgeons, medical oncologists and other specialists to develop a treatment plan best suited to your unique needs and treatment goals.
Beacon Cancer Care Radiation Oncology is located on the first floor of Memorial Hospital and offers convenient hours, servicing patients Monday through Friday.
