Physician Coaching 101: What is Coaching and How does it work?

Penelope Hsu, MD and Jennifer Alderink, DO

Penelope Hsu is a board certified, practicing pediatrician. She is also a certified professional coach and professional actor. She teaches teams to build a supportive work culture and individuals how to find life balance. Her particular interest is in bringing practical strategies and tools to the medical and Asian American communities so that they embrace their humanity more fully. Jennifer A. Alderink, DO received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internship at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana, and completed her residency in family medicine at St. John Providence Health in Warren, Michigan.
Dr. Alderink is a diplomat of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and is board-certified in family medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Michigan Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Regarding her scope of practice, Dr. Alderink enjoys maintaining a varied practice consistent with traditional family medicine starting with the newborn baby all the way up to the patient in his or her elder years. She especially enjoys chronic disease management and adult preventive care, pediatrics, manual medicine and minor procedures.
In her spare time, Dr. Alderink enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
