What are They Putting in the Spine Now?

Presented by: Joseph Schnittker, MD

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize symptomatic lumber spinal stenosis (LSS)
  • Describe the treatment of LSS
  • Recall the role of Coflex in LSS


Dr. Schnittker received his undergraduate training in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, graduating with honors from Queen’s University. After earning his medical degree from Queen’s University Medical School, he served a mixed internship at St. Mary’s Hospital for McGill University, a residency in neurosurgical training at the University of Calgary, and a pediatric neurosurgical fellowship at Alberta Children? Hospital. Board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, he has taken a leadership role in academic, hospital and emergency medical settings, serving as Assistant Professor and Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Surgery at McMaster University; Trauma Team Executive, Trauma Team Leader and Director of the Spinal Cord Injury Team for Hamilton General Hospital.
