Take it lying down.<\/p>\n<p>Presented By: Dr. Mark Walsh, Dr. Donald Zimmer, Dr. Kevin Taubman, and Research Students<\/p>\n<p>Objectives:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Discuss new guidelines regarding patient positioning during stroke workup and evaluation<\/li>\n<li>Presentation of unique clinical case that highlights why these changes may be impactful<\/li>\n<li>Examine physiologic and anatomical rationale for repositioning patients experiencing ischemic stroke<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-658 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beaconhealthsystem.org\/medical-professionals\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/06\/MWalsh-.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"141\" height=\"181\" \/>Dr. Walsh<\/strong> graduated from the University of Notre Dame where he received the Rink Academic Scholarship and an athletic scholarship for track and field. He graduated from the University of Bologna, Italy School of Medicine in 1976, attending medical school in the country of his mother\u2019s birth. Dr. Walsh completed his residency in internal medicine in 1980 at Northwestern University in Chicago. Since that time, he has practiced emergency medicine and internal medicine and has been board certified in internal medicine since 1980 and emergency medicine since 1987.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2133 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beaconhealthsystem.org\/medical-professionals\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/07\/KTaubman-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"153\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beaconhealthsystem.org\/medical-professionals\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/07\/KTaubman-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.beaconhealthsystem.org\/medical-professionals\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/07\/KTaubman.jpg 399w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 153px) 100vw, 153px\" \/>Kevin Taubman<\/strong> \u2013 As a vascular and endovascular surgeon, Dr. Taubman provides medical, surgical and minimally invasive treatment for a variety of blood vessel diseases, including life threatening artery blockages, causes of stroke, aneurysms, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), venous insufficiency and complex wounds. He chose this particular field for its diversity and challenge. When asked why he chose to practice at Beacon Health System he says, \u201cBeacon demonstrates a long-standing commitment to the recruitment and retention of quality healthcare professionals who share a common vision to achieve and deliver the highest level of care for the community it serves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From a young age, Dr. Kevin Taubman had a goal to become a surgeon. He was blessed to grow up with several family members who worked in medicine. His father, a surgeon, and mother both contributed to the development of a sense of duty. \u201cFrom their examples, they provided guidance to better understand the fulfillment which is possible through a dedication to helping others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Taubman demonstrates that same philosophy when it comes to his own patients. \u201cI believe that all people deserve access to quality medical care,\u201d he says. \u201cI am dedicated to providing compassionate care with cuttingedge therapy and scientific rigor to all of my patients as if they were my own family members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-864 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beaconhealthsystem.org\/medical-professionals\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/09\/DZimmer1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"207\" \/>Donald Zimmer<\/strong>, MD graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2009. He attended Residency at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and graduated in Emergency Medicine in 2012.\u00a0 He has since been with SB Emergency Physicians, Inc. since that time.
