\"\"Dr. Gursky has loved science his entire life. But he knew he needed to do something more than bench research. After researching jobs in science and speaking with family friends, he realized anesthesia would be the perfect profession for him. \u201cI have the opportunity to help people on a daily basis, and I get to be a science nerd at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Gursky provides anesthesia services for heart and lung surgeries. \u201cDuring the case, it is my job to make sure that you are completely asleep, and you wake up with minimal pain or discomfort,\u201d he explains. He also ensures that vital signs are all within the correct ranges throughout the surgery and that everything goes well from a medical standpoint.<\/p>\n

He chose to practice at Beacon because of its great cardiac surgery department. \u201cThe cases and outcomes here are outstanding,\u201d he explains. \u201cThe patient\u2019s quality of life is often drastically improved as a result of the care they receive at Beacon. It makes my job very rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n

When it comes to his practice, Dr. Gursky has a simple philosophy: vigilance and standardization. \u201cI do my best to be vigilant and do the same thing the same way every time to ensure the best outcome possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

The way Dr. Gursky sees it, he is in a unique position. \u201cPatients generally have a long-standing relationship with their doctors,\u201d he explains. \u201cA patient meets me for ten minutes before their major heart surgery. I spend the entire day with them, but they are only awake for a few minutes of it. I hope that my brief time with them fills them with confidence in my abilities.\u201d He adds, \u201cI\u2019ve learned that even when someone is ill, they can see the bright future ahead. I hope that patients get a sense of calm when meeting me.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
