Loyd recognized as fellow in the Medical Fitness Association

Beacon Health System is pleased to announce that Alan Loyd, FMFA, CMFFD, executive director of Beacon Health & Fitness, has completed the requirements to be recognized as a Fellow in the Medical Fitness Association.

To earn this honor, Loyd had to meet strict standards established by the association, including continuing education, taking a leadership role in committees, being selected as a conference speaker, providing community service, and serving as a facility examiner for the Medical Fitness Association Facility Certification Program.

“Fellows are the backbone of the association,” said Robert D. Boone, FACHE, FMFA, president and chief executive of the Medical Fitness Association. “Only Fellows may serve in a governance role in our association, so attaining this credential is an important marker in the career of any medical fitness professional.”

The Medical Fitness Fellowship, designated by the initials FMFA after the Fellow’s name, recognizes the highest levels of professionalism in the industry and his interest and willingness to serve the association on a regional, national, or even international basis.

“Fellows become mentors to newer professionals in the industry and help to spread their knowledge and experience in this rapidly growing industry,” Boone said. “Medical Fitness Fellows play an important and critical role within our organization. We are very proud of Alan for reaching this milestone in his career.”

Bringing the medical fitness model that integrates fitness with sports medicine and physical therapy to South Bend and Granger, and a third facility to Elkhart this summer, has been tremendous for Michiana area communities and Beacon Health System patients, Loyd said.

“More than anything, this designation reflects the hard work of our inter-departmental teams and the work they do every day,” Loyd added. “Whether you’re a member of our clubs or a patient with one of our physicians or physical therapists, you feel the power of having an entire wellness team behind you with one goal in mind: helping you to live and to perform at your very best.”
