Blood Cancer Care

At Beacon Health System, we have the experience and expertise to treat all types of blood cancer. We offer both inpatient and outpatient care, in comfortable locations close to you.

What is Blood Cancer?

Blood cancers start in the blood, bone marrow or lymphatic system. They interfere with your body’s ability to fight infection.

Three common types of blood cancer are:

  • Leukemia – starts in your blood and bone marrow
  • Lymphoma – starts in your lymphatic system
  • Myeloma – starts in your white blood cells

Blood Cancer Treatments

Many Beacon doctors are board certified in both oncology (cancer) and hematology (blood). If you’re diagnosed with blood cancer, a specialized care team will work together to develop the best possible treatment plan for you.

Our services include:

Infusion Therapy

Some medications need to be given directly into your veins (IV treatment). You can get these treatments at our outpatient infusion therapy clinics.

Our infusion services include:

  • Administration of antibiotics and other medications
  • Blood transfusions
  • Central line care
  • Chemotherapy

If you’re receiving chemotherapy, your session may take a few to several hours depending on your treatment plan. Most chemotherapy infusions are performed at one- to four-week intervals. You can bring a friend to stay with you during treatment, but please do not bring children.
