Beacon Bits

We hope you enjoyed a wonderful Easter weekend and are enjoying this sunshine and warm weather. Definitely two reasons to smile!

Here’s another, on a related note…

The new Rooftop Picnic Area adjacent to the lobby and admitting area at Elkhart General Hospital is now open. And we’re hearing that associates filled most tables while enjoying the fresh air during the lunch hour today.

You can access the picnic area through the door located off the hallway between the Elkhart General main lobby and the pavilion next to River Oaks office. This door will be unlocked from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. There’s also a ramp available from the Riverpoint Building side, says Cindie McPhie, Vice President of Operations.

On Wednesday, the Cheery Corner Gift Shop is scheduled to reopen in its new location — the Arthur J. Decio Pavilion, across from the Patel Family Auditorium. There are celebrations planned next week, including giveaways, special sales and just general fun.

Marilyn Altman, Dixie Harris, Louise Fraszewski and Chris Lantz take a breather Tuesday while putting the finishing touches on the new Cheery Corner Gift Shop location.

“There has been a lot of work put into the project between Administration, the director of construction, the Gift Shop staff, volunteers and the Volunteer Services Department,” says Pam Sandy, Manager of Volunteer Services. “The project has been in the works for several years and everyone is just so happy it is coming to fruition.”

Gift shop hours will remain 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Next week, the Bistro is scheduled to close on Tuesday and the new Martin’s Café will open its doors, complete with grab-and-go breakfast, lunch and dinner options.  We will have MUCH more on the Martin’s Café at Elkhart General and its offerings in an upcoming story.
