January 15, 2025

Starting today, visitors in our Beacon hospitals are strongly encouraged to wear masks when directly interacting with hospitalized patients due to an increase of respiratory illness in our community.

With a recent uptick in respiratory illnesses, including COVID, RSV and flu, Beacon recommends visitors wear masks during patient interactions at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Elkhart General Hospital, Beacon Granger Hospital, Community Hospital of Bremen and Three Rivers Health Hospital.

Masks are proven to reduce transmission of these illnesses. Beacon will continue to provide masks at our hospitals and monitor national, state, regional and Beacon-level respiratory illness data to determine prevention practices at all our locations.

We strongly urge you postpone your hospital visit if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness. If you must visit while experiencing mild symptoms, it is important to wear a mask and practice proper hand hygiene to protect our vulnerable hospitalized patients.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for all our patients to receive care and to protect each other.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency or need urgent medical advice, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
