Beacon Health is ready to care for critically ill patients

As the region’s largest health care provider, Beacon Health System is prepared for the arrival of patients who may test positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19).

There are currently no confirmed cases of Coronavirus at Beacon. But health officials believe it is a matter of time before a patient is infected with the virus in our community.

“For most people, exposure to the virus does not pose a significant threat,” said Sam El-Dalati, MD, Beacon’s Chief Clinical Officer. “If exposed, most people will recover from this virus at home. The elderly and those with underlying health conditions, however, may experience greater difficulty.”

Precautionary measures are in place at all Beacon sites. If you have had known contact or have traveled from a place with infection and have symptoms, please call your provider for instructions before coming in. This will help prevent the spread of the virus. Depending on the circumstance, Beacon may be able to provide guidance and care remotely.

Isolation for hospitalized patients is ready and available as needed and Beacon is fully prepared with equipment, medications and supplies. Our clinical teams are monitoring and keeping abreast of all clinical developments and worldwide trends.

“We want to assure everyone that the care and safety of our patients, families and staff is our number one priority,” El-Dalati said. ”Please continue to follow CDC guidelines around good hand hygiene and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.”
