Beacon Food Relief Collaborative

As many families face growing challenges accessing nutritious meals, Beacon Health System has launched a food relief collaborative to address food insecurity in our region. Some Beacon hospitals are offering food options to ensure members of our community have access to the resources they need. Below you will find information about these new programs, along with a comprehensive directory of food assistance resources available in all the counties Beacon hospitals serve.

Location details

Community Hospital of Bremen

  • Drive-thru service: Provides a freshly prepared meal for immediate use and a frozen meal for later.
  • Hours: Open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 – 4 p.m.* (except holidays).
  • Location: Main hospital entrance.
  • Special meal event: Boxes of food, along with frozen turkeys left over from turkey distribution, will be available for community members on Thursday, November 20, from 3 – 5 p.m.
  • Pick-up will be at the Facilities building near associate parking. Signage will be posted.

Elkhart General Hospital

  • Drive-thru service: Offers non-perishable items and frozen meals.
  • Hours: Open every Wednesday from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Drive-thru system: Individuals can pull up to the circle drive entrance on Arcade Avenue and have items brought out to them.
  • Meals provided: Courtesy of Cultivate Food Rescue and available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Limit: One backpack (six meals) and one bag of canned goods per vehicle.
  • Food rescue program: Nutritional Services will repackage available food and offer leftover frozen meals.

Memorial Hospital of South Bend

  • Food pantry: Offers non-perishable food and other items, as well as frozen meals.
  • Hours: Open every Wednesday from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Location: Located in the Discharge Lounge, accessible from main entrance.
  • Parking: Free parking is available in the surface visitor lot on Bartlett Street.
  • Meals provided: Courtesy of Cultivate Food Rescue and available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Limit: 2 backpacks per person (12 frozen meals).
  • Food rescue program: Nutritional Services repackaging leftover meals and food items.

Three Rivers Health Hospital

  • Drive-thru service: Offers frozen meals. Available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Hours: Open every Friday from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. (During Thanksgiving week, drive-thru will be open Nov. 26 and closed Nov. 28.)
  • Location: Individuals can pull up to the hospital’s front entrance and have meals brought to them.
  • Limit: 2 meals per vehicle.
