A new, easier way to manage your care at Beacon

Tools to help you stay informed and connected.

With the recent welcoming of the former Ascension Hospitals into the Beacon Health System family as Beacon Kalamazoo (Borgess), Dowagiac, Allegan and Plainwell we are excited to share an important update for our southwest Michigan patients. As part of this transition, patients are moving to MyBeacon, our secure online patient portal that provides convenient access to your medical record and care information. This transition reflects a broader, systemwide effort to improve access to health information and support better coordination of care.

At the center of this transition is a simple idea: One patient, one record. Moving to a single, shared record across Beacon helps your care team stay connected and coordinated, no matter which Beacon location you visit. Real-time updates to your record support timely decisions for tests and medications, improve communication between providers, and create a more convenient and seamless experience.

How to get ready for MyBeacon

MyBeacon is our online patient portal with 24/7 access. With MyBeacon, you can view your medical records, stay connected with your care team and much more. Everything is at your fingertips in one, safe place.

Your MyBeacon account will be activated after your next Beacon office visit. This helps protect your privacy and safe use of your electronic health record.

For care that fits your busy day, you can also use the MyBeacon Health app. Download it from the App Store or Google Play and use it right from your smart phone or other web-enabled device.

As we introduce new tools to make your care easier, remember that we’re here to help you every step of the way. You can also find quick answers in the FAQs below. Thank you for trusting us with your health.

What’s new for you

We want to make getting care easy for you and your family. Our digital tools give you more choices and more convenience. These tools work with MyBeacon to help you stay on track with your care.

Online scheduling

Our Michigan patients can schedule certain appointments online.  While many visit types are available online, our teams are still here to help if you prefer to schedule by phone or in person. Think of this as an added option, not a replacement.

Digital registration

Digital registration makes it easier to prepare for your upcoming visit by allowing you to complete required forms online before you arrive. You will receive digital registration notifications by text message or email using the contact information on file. A valid phone number or email address is required to receive these messages. Text messages will come from Beacon’s short code 75442, which may be filtered as spam if you are not expecting it, so please watch for these notifications. Digital registration also gives you the opportunity to review and update your contact information so your care team has the most accurate details. Learn more.

Appointment reminders, test prep and screening instructions

You will start getting reminders, test prep and screening instructions by text or email. These messages help you remember your appointments and know what to expect. To get them, we need your correct mobile phone number and email. Your care team can help you update this information any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Portal Access & Enrollment

How do I sign up for MyBeacon?

Your MyBeacon account will be activated after your next Beacon office visit. This helps protect your privacy and safe use of your electronic health record.

Do I need to download the MyBeacon Health app?

No, you don’t have to download the MyBeacon Health app to use MyBeacon. The portal is also available online from any web‑enabled device, like a computer, tablet or smart phone.

That said, we do encourage downloading the app because it makes managing your health even easier. The app gives you quick access to your information, lets you check appointments on the go, and makes it simple to stay connected with your care team. You can download it from the App Store or Google Play whenever you’re ready.

What if I have trouble logging in to MyBeacon?

If you have questions about MyBeacon, call 574.647.7430 or email ReleaseOfInformation@beaconhealthsystem.org.

Finding Information in Your Portal

What information will I see in the MyBeacon patient portal?

Test results and reports: Access lab results, imaging/radiology reports, pathology and microbiology reports as soon as they’re available. There may be times when you see results before your doctor has had a chance to review them. Your doctor will call you about test results that need follow up, usually within two to three business days.

View, download and share health records: Review your immunization and hospital visit records and known allergies. Download your records for easy coordination with healthcare providers.

Please note that clinical information from your previous medical record portal won’t automatically show up in MyBeacon. As you receive care going forward, certain clinical details will update in MyBeacon. Your care team will still have the information they need to provide safe, effective care.

During the transition, patients will continue to have access to their historical medical record information through the previous patient portals. If you need additional assistance, our health information management or medical records team is available to help. Call 574.647.7430 or email releaseofinformation@beaconhealthsystem.org

Can I upload medical records from other patient portals into MyBeacon?

MyBeacon does not currently support uploaded documents from patients. We recommend that patients take care to keep any personal health information protected if it’s stored at home, whether it is printed or digital information.

Patients’ historical medical record information is available by contacting our health information management/medical records team. Call 574.647.7430 or email releaseofinformation@beaconhealthsystem.org.

Shared Accounts & Proxy Access

Can I help manage my child’s or loved one’s care?

What are the important communications related to my upcoming visit at Beacon? Why should I watch for messages from 75442?

Messages may include a link to complete required registration forms, reminders to review your information, or prompts to update contact details so your care team has the most accurate information.

Do I need to do anything in order to receive appointment communications from Beacon?

Yes. A valid mobile phone number or email address must be on file to receive digital registration notifications. You can update your contact information with your care team at any time.

These are official Beacon contacts for appointment communications only. Adding them to your contacts now will help ensure these important messages reach you and don't accidentally end up in spam.

Appointments, Registration & Prescriptions

How does digital registration help me?

Digital registration allows you to complete required forms before you arrive, which can shorten check in time and ensure your information is accurate.

What are my options for managing appointments online?

You can schedule, cancel and reschedule many routine appointments online, giving you more direct control over your care.

About 5–10 days before your appointment, you'll receive a text or email message with a link to view available times and make any changes that work for your schedule — no more waiting for a call back. If you need to make changes before you receive that message or if your appointment type requires phone scheduling, you can always contact your provider's office directly. Our teams are here to help whether you prefer to manage appointments online or by phone.

How do prescription refills work in MyBeacon?

MyBeacon makes it easy to request prescription refills directly through the portal. If your medication doesn't have refills remaining, please contact your provider's office to discuss renewal. If you have questions about your medications or need assistance, you can always contact your provider's office.

Billing & Financial

I have questions about billing — how can I learn more?

Patient resources for billing, financial assistance and insurance questions for our facilities are available here. Patients may pay online for added convenience.
