Medical Oncology

At Beacon Health System, our oncology teams work together to provide you with individualized care for treating cancer. Medical oncology is one approach we may use in your treatment plan.

Your medical oncologist is a physician who uses chemotherapy, either delivered through an IV or a pill, to help fight cancer. Treatments may be combined with other forms of care, including radiation therapy and/or surgery.

Some cancers require chemotherapy and, either due to the treatment of the cancer or because of the cancer itself, may require blood transfusions.
