Right Talent with Right Skills, Ready at the Right Time

Attracting the best and brightest talent to Beacon is a top priority, but to be the best health care system we can be requires a process that also develops and retains these outstanding associates. Beacon Human Resources has launched its Talent Cycle, an ongoing effort to continuously drive Beacon to attract, develop and retain
talent to meet the needs of the organization.

“We are pursuing candidates from multiple generations and Beacon must demonstrate an attractive work environment, use innovation and technology and provide a development track to prepare our future leaders,” explains Steve Eller, Beacon Chief Human Resource Officer.

Talent Strategy:
This encompasses multiple areas that focus on “how” we execute across many areas such as employer branding, building our social media presence, and partnerships with targeted universities and community organizations. These strategies help us identify and acquire talent to help meet our objectives: 1. Best Quality and Outcomes 2. Best Customer Experience 3. Best Value for Cost of Care and 4. Best Associate Satisfaction.

Talent Acquisition:
In September, the new job posting and applicant tracking system known as Taleo was launched, which makes searching and applying for positions at Beacon much more efficient and can be performed from a mobile device. A few days after going live, there were more than 500 applicants in the new system!

Talent Development:
We are now proud to introduce Beacon University that will serve as a platform to engage and inspire our associates, as well as develop emerging leaders to meet the future needs of Beacon. This will be accomplished by developing the competencies and skillsets to prepare associates for positions of greater responsibility. Courses will be posted on NetLearning for review and enrollment.

Succession Development:
Concentrate on identifying key competencies for positions and assessing our associates against those competencies to formalize succession plans to ensure Beacon has a strong bench of talent to thrive in the future.
