Celebrating with Heart

On Feb. 9 at the Elkhart Rotary Club, Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore and Elkhart General Hospital Foundation Chairman Art Decio surprised Elkhart General President Greg Losasso with a proclamation declaring the week of February 8 as “Elkhart General’s Cardiac Care Week.” The proclamation noted the Cardiac Care Center’s 15th anniversary as well as Elkhart General’s long history of heart disease prevention and services, including the hospital’s first electrocardiogram in 1942. Donald Westerhausen, M.D., made a presentation to club members about cardiac care and the Center.

The next day, Troy Weirick, M.D., continued to share the message about the accomplishments of the Cardiac Care Center with members of the Elkhart Kiwanis Club.

Later in the week, on Feb. 12, the Elkhart General Hospital Foundation hosted a donor appreciation event for 90 donors at Artisan in Elkhart.
Guest speakers included Walter Halloran, M.D.; Dr. Westerhausen; Wai Lee, M.D.; and Dr. Weirick.
