Another record reached for COVID-positive patients at Beacon hospitals

We start this week with another record of 148 COVID-positive patients across our health system. Our staff continues to be stretched as we all step up to care for an ever-increasing number of people needing care. We continue to see an increase in the community spread of this virus and we are putting plans in place for the possibility of an even greater number of patients in the weeks to come.

We are meeting with the State and other governmental and industry leaders on the importance of actions in the community to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Our goal is to highlight the urgency of the situation to those making decisions on the state level regarding Indiana’s Back on Track phases of reopening.

As the number of COVID-positive patients in our hospitals continues to grow, we have made the decision to begin postponing many non-urgent surgical procedures.  This will allow us to redeploy staff to care for patients in other areas of the hospitals. We appreciate your understanding during these transitions.
