Eye on Health: New minimally-invasive spine surgery gets local runner back on track
Ben Lauer couldn’t pick up his kids or stand up straight after a workday due to debilitating back pain, but a new minimally invasive procedure at Beacon Health System changed everything.
Using Joimax endoscopic spine surgery, Dr. David Fessler at Beacon Bone & Joint Specialists was able to repair Lauer’s spine through a small centimeter incision, allowing him to walk immediately and go home the same day.
Just two weeks later, Lauer returned to work, and within a month he was running again. He’s planning his next 5K and applying to coach Girls on the Run. Learn much more about Ben’s story and how the Beacon team got him back to living his best life in our latest WSBT Eye on Heath.
