New Beacon Mishawaka Outpatient Center honors local civic leader
Beacon Health System recently opened its new outpatient center at the northeast corner of Lincolnway East and Church Street, a site with deep roots in downtown Mishawaka that now serves the health needs of the community.
The 25,000-square-foot, two-story center provides convenient access to advanced imaging, physical therapy, primary care and specialty medicine, including OB-GYN and non-invasive cardiology. From online scheduling to digital check-in, the experience has been designed and streamlined with patient convenience in mind.
“This location is driven by growing patient demand for care and services close to home,” said Diane Maas, Beacon’s chief strategy and digital transformation officer. “Building in the heart of downtown Mishawaka reflects our commitment to patient access and convenience with advanced technology and the outstanding care our patients expect at Beacon.”
The outpatient center honors the late Denny Schwartz, president of Valley Bank & Trust Company, whose philanthropic support helped make the development possible. The building stands on the same corner where Valley Bank & Trust Co. opened in March 1968, reflecting Schwartz’s belief in reinvesting in places that matter to the community and his long-standing commitment to the region as a former Memorial Health System and Memorial Hospital Foundation board member.
The $21.7 million facility, located across from the Mishawaka Public Library with convenient parking between Main and Church streets, is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology. A high-powered MRI machine delivers faster, more accurate scans for a better patient experience, and a cutting-edge mammography machine with the fastest 3D scan time on the market produces sharper images for improved diagnostic clarity.
“This investment by Beacon Health System in downtown Mishawaka is another strong example of the momentum we are building as a community,” said Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood. “Expanding access to high-quality healthcare services right in the heart of our city not only improves the lives of our residents but also strengthens the vitality of our downtown.”
As a locally owned, nonprofit health system governed by volunteer community board members, Beacon reinvests in services that respond to the health needs of residents across northern Indiana and southwest Michigan. The Mishawaka Outpatient Center underscores that commitment to the community.
