Beacon Health System helps open new Leeper Park playground

Beacon Health System is honored to have joined with South Bend Venues Parks & Arts, South Bend Community School Corporation and the City of South Bend to create the new Leeper Park.

Community Impact Executive Director Patty Willaert joined South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Common Council President Tim Scott and students from Madison Steam Academy for a ribbon cutting Monday morning on the newly-installed playground on the west side of the park.

In a 2018 study, teachers brought students to Leeper Park thousands of times. In that year, 100 percent of students showed an improvement in physical activity. Those numbers are expected to improve even more in 2019.

Beacon is thrilled to take part in a collaboration that leads to better outcomes for children.
