Let’s All Stay Vigilant: A letter from our Beacon CEO

Dear Beacon Team,

We’ve all been in this together for the past seven months, since our first confirmed case of COVID-19 back in March.

We’ve worked together to mitigate the spread of the virus in our hospitals, clinics and offices. And together, our efforts have resulted in very low exposure to and transmission of COVID in our work environment.

After seven months, however, we all want to return to some semblance of ‘normalcy.” I know I do. I miss seeing people’s full faces, their reactions, smiles and laughs. I miss going on bike rides with a couple dozen people riding really fast within inches of one another. I miss seeing my college kids who are supposed to stay on campus for the semester, and visits with my parents, who are 80 and at high risk.

But this virus has started to spread in our community, so this is not the time to let our guards down.

In the last few weeks, we’ve seen an increase in the number of COVID-positive patients we’re treating here at Beacon, as well as an increase in the number of our associates being tested due to potential exposure.

It’s tempting to think the worst is behind us, but I am asking everyone to remain vigilant inside and outside of work.

We need to be here, healthy and available to care for those who need us most. This means we need to take care of ourselves. Thank you for being role models, and for leading by example in all aspects of your life, whether that’s here at work, at the grocery store, or caring for a loved one.

Let’s all remember to wear our masks, maintain social distancing, wash your hands frequently and avoid large gatherings. Together, we can lead our community into a healthier tomorrow.

With Appreciation,

Kreg Gruber, CEO
