Beacon Health System named foundational sponsor of Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon
The Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon is proud to announce Beacon Health System as its new foundational sponsor, reinforcing a longstanding commitment to community wellness in southwest Michigan.
As a locally owned, nonprofit health system, Beacon will continue the legacy of support established by Ascension Borgess Southwest Michigan, the Marathon’s former foundational sponsor. This sponsorship demonstrates Beacon’s commitment to investing in the health and vitality of the communities it proudly serves.
“We’re proud to support an event that brings our community together around health and wellness,” said Carl Risk, President, Beacon Kalamazoo. “Inspiring health is central to Beacon’s mission, and this marathon delivers on that in every way.”
The 2026 Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon will take place the weekend of April 25-26, with all races starting and finishing at Bronson Park in downtown Kalamazoo. The event includes a Marathon, Half Marathon, Full & Half Relays, 10K, 5K run/walk, PNC Kids’ 1K and the 50 State Challenge. The weekend also features the Beacon Health Expo, providing resources and information to support participants’ health journeys.
The marathon attracts participants from across the U.S. by “Driving a Healthy Community” in the Greater Kalamazoo area and beyond. The full marathon, half marathon and 10K courses pass through Western Michigan University’s Waldo Stadium, with the marathon course also winding through Winchell Neighborhood, Portage Creek Bicentennial Park Trail, Stryker campus, Milwood Neighborhood, Edison Neighborhood and Upjohn Park.
Known for its highly spirited excitement zones and water stations, participants enjoy community favorites including Gummy Bear Forest, the popular Bacon Station and the dill-icious Pickle Pit. All participants and spectators can join the Stryker Finish Line Celebration at Bronson Park.
Formerly known as the Borgess Run for the Health of It!, the event was renamed the Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon in 2022 after Zeigler Auto Group became its title sponsor.
“We are so proud to welcome Beacon on as a foundational sponsor. We know our community is equally grateful for its support, and we cannot wait to Drive a Healthy Community with the health system this year and beyond,” said Carrie Drake, Race Director, Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon.
