Kudos, Elkhart General!

Elkhart General Heart Failure Center Team

Congratulations to all of the Elkhart General associates who helped achieve these recognitions:

• March of Dimes and the Indiana Hospital Association recognized Elkhart General Hospital at the Indiana Perinatal Hospital Summit for their work to reduce the number of elective inductions and cesarean deliveries before 39 weeks of pregnancy. This will give more babies in north central Indiana a healthy start in life.

• Elkhart General was named a Center of Excellence by the Lung Cancer Alliance. The national recognition acknowledges the comprehensive care and multidisciplinary approach of the hospital’s Lung Screen Program.

• The American College of Radiology (ACR) designated Elkhart General as a Lung Cancer Screening Center; it is one of just two such facilities in Indiana. The ACR Lung Cancer Screening Center designation is a voluntary program that recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer.

• The Healthcare Colloquium, a Battelle Company, designated Elkhart General Hospital as an Accredited Heart Failure Center. “Achieving certification from The Healthcare Colloquium is validation that Elkhart General provides high-quality care based on evidence-based best practices for our heart failure patients and their families,” says Katherine Russell, MSN, R.N., Executive Director of Nursing for Elkhart General. “The Healthcare Colloquium’s certification structure allowed us a platform to visualize our current processes and access their best practices to improve and grow our program.”
