Before everyone starts their holiday weekend, we have a few items to share.
This week, Dr. Ahmed Elmaadawi, attended the American Psychiatric Association annual meeting in San Diego, where he discussed the “Benefits of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation,” or TMS.
TMS is used as an adjunctive therapy for patients with major depression.
In this sit-down interview, Dr. Elmaadawi, Pediatric Psychiatrist with Beacon Medical Group Behavioral Health, explains in detail what TMS is, how it works, and what the benefits are for patients who have exhausted other options for treatment.

This week is “Healthcare Technology Management Week,” in appreciation of our Biomedical Equipment Technicians.
The Clinical Engineering Department at Elkhart General has a team of five biomedical equipment technicians that maintain a wide range of medical equipment. That team includes: John Thomas, Steve Hilty, Lester Zybura, Lee Burnett and Edward Drone.
We also want to thank the Biomed Equipment team at Memorial Hospital for their dedication to maintaining the medical equipment at our hospital and clinics. The Memorial team includes: Don Carpenter, Jeff Gilkins, Bob Grams, Adam Peck, Dennis Perry, Pat Rickerman, Terry Starlin, Trenton Weldy (starting May 30) and Joe Stevenson, Biomed Department Manager.

Looking ahead at next week…
Window washing will affect the visitor and associate parking garages for a few hours on Tuesday at Elkhart General Hospital, says Logan Porter, Environmental Services.
In the Elkhart General visitor garage, the south end elevator will be out of service from 9 to 11 a.m. A sign will be posted on the elevator doors to reroute patients and associates to the north end elevator during that time.
Between noon and 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Elkhart General associate garage will have one elevator out for window washing. One elevator will be in service at all times, however.
