Is PAWS right for your family?

One of the biggest misconceptions about PAWS is that it’s only for high school students.

In reality, PAWS serves adolescents and young adults ages 10 through 21, making quality healthcare more accessible for families throughout the Three Rivers community.

Services are available regardless of a family’s ability to pay, and all insurance plans — including Medicaid and Medicaid Health Plans — are accepted. Families without insurance can also receive care.

Students attending Three Rivers Community Schools can access care during the school day with parent or guardian consent. High school students may walk to the clinic for appointments, while transportation can be arranged for middle and elementary school students when requested by a parent or guardian. Appointments are encouraged, but same-day visits are often available when needed.

Making healthcare easier to access also means caring for the whole person.

In addition to primary care services, PAWS provides behavioral health support through its full-time Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Students and young adults can receive counseling, behavioral health support, care coordination and referrals to community resources when additional services are needed.

To further expand access to care, PAWS also partners with Three Rivers Middle School through the Enhancing, Expanding Emotional Health (E3) Program. E3 brings counseling and behavioral health support directly into the school setting, making it easier for students to receive services in a familiar and supportive environment.

“When healthcare is available where students already spend much of their day, barriers begin to disappear,” says Andrea Scott, LMSW. “Through the E3 Program and our school-linked clinic, we help students and families access timely physical and mental health support so they can focus on learning, growing and reaching their full potential.”

Whether your child needs a routine physical, treatment for an illness or injury, support managing a chronic condition or help navigating life’s challenges, PAWS provides compassionate, coordinated care designed to help young people stay healthy, engaged and ready to learn.
