Memorial Hospital earns prestigious Perinatal Center certification from State of Indiana

Memorial Hospital of South Bend received word from the Indiana Department of Health on Monday that it has been certified as a Perinatal Center.

Memorial is one of 10 delivery hospitals in the state to receive this certification.

“I am incredibly proud of this designation, as it validates the exceptional expertise we have at the bedside,” said Sarah Paturalski, Memorial’s Vice President of Nursing. “Our teams work hard to provide a high level of kind, compassionate care to patients in our region and beyond.”

The purpose of perinatal centers is to coordinate perinatal care throughout the state by affiliating with delivering facilities. To qualify as a Perinatal Center, hospitals must achieve state department of health designation status as a Level III or Level IV Obstetric facility and either a Level III or a Level IV Neonatal facility.

Memorial has achieved Level III status for both its Obstetric and Neonatal facilities that led to this important Perinatal Center designation.
