Class Descriptions

Yoga Foundations

If you are new to yoga, our Yoga Foundations offers a welcoming and encouraging environment for everyone to explore the fundamental poses found in most active yoga classes, as well as the basic concepts that underlie every yoga practice. Explore the essential framework of Yoga including the primary standing poses and how to find proper alignment in those postures, effective techniques to release muscular tension and build core strength, breathing techniques to build focus and soothe the nervous system, and modifications for common postures to make yoga practice work for your body.

 

Walk & Talk at the Commons

Walk about 2 miles on the Commons track with a group.

 

Senior Pep Fitness

Get energized and gain endurance, flexibility and strength. This fitness class helps seniors stay active, live healthy lifestyles and feel young at heart. Classes are led by our specially trained instructors.

 

Pickle ball

A low-impact, high-energy doubles racket sport that blends tennis, badminton and ping-pong.

 

Splash with Me

Open water swim time for parents and children. Adult supervision required at all times.

 

Youth Conditioning

Teach your kids the value of exercise and a healthy lifestyle at an early age. This class introduces youths to different fitness activities from circuit training, field games, boot camp and more. Our experienced exercise trainers have a passion for youth fitness and each class is built with kid’s learning styles and interests in mind.

 

Book Club

Come to the library in the Commons and enjoy a book with some of your local community members.

 

Library with Me

Library time for kids to sing songs and read stories. Lead by the Elkhart Public Library. Adult supervision required.

 

Board and Card Games

Come to the library in the Commons and enjoy a board or card game with some of your local community members.

 

Question, Persuade, Refer: Suicide Prevention

Participants will increase knowledge of mental health disorders, decrease stigma, and promote early intervention for individuals at risk of suicide.

 

Kids Winter Fun Fest

Activities to include bounce house, face painting, cookie decorating, games, and craft time.

 

Gym for Me

Open gym for toddlers with toys, balls, inflatables and more provided. Adult supervision required.

 

Open Gym

Open gym time for basketball and other ball sports.

  • Youth Open Gym – 12 & Under, adult supervision required
  • High School Open Gym – 9th-12th Grade
  • 18+ Open Gym – 18 years & older

 

High School & 18+ Open gym rules

  • High School & 18+ Open Gym Rules
  • $3 fee required for entry
  • Limit to first 20 players
  • Play must remain on Commons court
  • Participants required to wear provided wristband & follow gym etiquette
