Birthing rooms
Whatever your preferences for your birthing experience, our rooms include a private bathroom, pullout sofa bed or recliner for support person and 24-hours access to family kitchenette. We offer:
- 10 labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) rooms (featuring a deep soaking tub for relaxation, birthing ball, peanut ball, CUB chair)
- 8 antepartum/postpartum rooms for before and after delivery
- 1 low-intervention birth room*
About the low-intervention labor and delivery birth room
Offering a safe, comfortable, supportive environment for your birth experience, this room includes home-like features:
- Queen-sized bed
- Soft, warm lighting
- Pullout love seat bed (for support person)
- Rocker/recliner chair
- Refrigerator and dinette set
- Television
- Skylight projector and twinkle lights
- Comfort options for labor:
- Intermittent baby heart rate checks with a handheld doppler
- Pain relief if needed: Nitrous oxide (laughing gas), IV pain medications (fentanyl or stadol)
- Aromatherapy
- Tennis balls for back pressure
- Birth comb for natural pain distraction

For safety purposes and for a positive experience, some patients may not be able to use this room. Reasons could include certain maternal health conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes requiring medication), concerns with the baby (like growth problems, certain abnormalities), early labor, large baby or in unusual position, other reasons per provider or the hospital admissions team.
