Mini-Medical University for Teens
About the Program
Memorial Hospital’s Volunteer Services Department offers a one-of-a-kind learning experience for high-school-aged students interested in healthcare. Admitted students become immersed in various professions, experiencing the vibrancy of the hospital through presentations and activities with some of Beacon’s best and brightest! In past years, curriculum has included lectures from clinicians in specialty areas and labs, along with exposure to clinical units and services within Memorial Hospital.
Mini-Medical University for Teens (MMU) is a full-day, week-long experience, with students attending one of three sessions in June or July. The programming is geared toward high school students ages 15 to 18 who will be rising juniors and seniors in summer 2025. This year’s MMU session are:
- Session 101A: Monday, June 9 – Friday, June 13
- Session 101B: Monday, June 23 – Friday, June 27
- Session 101C: Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 11
Students who successfully complete MMU become eligible to interview for a volunteer position at the hospital. Due to privacy laws and other requirements, only high school students ages 15 to 17 who successfully complete MMU are eligible to volunteer in specific service areas while in high school.
