Visitation policies
Masks remain optional at our Beacon Medical Group locations, outpatient care offices and clinics, business offices and fitness centers, but masks should be worn if requested by a patient or staff member.
Should high transmission levels of respiratory illness become prevalent in our community, Beacon hospitals will set new guidelines.. There are still some situations, however, in which a mask could be required for associates, patients or visitors in all Beacon settings, including:
- In areas where care is delivered to immunocompromised patients;
- For anyone who has been exposed to COVID in the past 10 days;
- For all individuals with respiratory symptoms (even if COVID testing is negative);
- As required per standard and isolation precautions;
- If you choose to wear a mask;
- If requested by a patient or staff member for an encounter.
Masks will continue to be provided at Beacon locations.
Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for all of our patients to receive care and to protect each other.

Smoking policy
Community Hospital of Bremen
Community Hospital of Bremen is a tobacco-free facility. This includes all patient rooms. Patients may not leave the unit to smoke. We offer free resources to help you quit.
Elkhart General Hospital
At Elkhart General Hospital, we’re committed to the health of our community. And we know that a smoke-free environment is cleaner and healthier for every person who visits our hospital. That’s why we’re asking that no tobacco products be used on the Elkhart General Hospital property or in any of its facilities. Your nurse can share information on nicotine replacement therapy and tobacco cessation counseling.
If you do choose to smoke, a smoking shelter is available directly across from the Rehabilitation Services Entrance. Patients desiring to smoke must sign a waiver, which can be obtained from your caregiver.
